The ministraws (outer diameter 2 mm), also known as „French type straws“, are widely used all over the world for many years now. Medium size straws have larger diameter (outer diameter 3 mm) and volume. One end of the straws has self-sealing properties – a PVA/cotton plug solidifies as soon as it has been wetted by the cryoprotectant. The other end can be sealed by using the enclosed sealing balls or sticks. Both ends of the Mini and Medium straws can also be heat sealed instead.
Ministraws and Medium straws are suitable for different types of controlled rate freezers like Planer, SY-LAB or CryoLogic. They are sterilized by gamma irradiation and CE marked.
